Beach Shadows

This picture was taken at Hampton beach when I was with my sister, and those are our two shadows. I love how dark this photo is, it almost makes it look like a night shot. But the crashing wave also adds a good element to the image too.

Lamp

This photo was taken on the front of my house right next to the front door. I didn't realize it at first but there is actually the reflection of the trees in my yard in the glass of the lamp. This picture has components of shadow and line along with shape.

Wheelbarrow

This picture was taken in my neighbors yard between our driveways. It has elements of shape and shadow in it. She always takes this wheelbarrow without asking us so I took this picture partially to prove that she steals it from us, and afterwards i locked it up in our shed. Our neighbor is crazy.

Boat in the Bay

I took this photo on the beach on Lieutenant Island in Welfleet, MA. We have a Cape house on the island and the beach is absolutely gorgeous. I always go back to using this picture for projects because it is so compositionally beautiful. The picture always makes me think of the Cape and how I basically grew up on that beach. It is my favorite place.

Out of Context

This photo was also from my out of context project. It is in my yard in the green apple tree we have right before it started budding for spring. carly likes this photo because "the tree looks like it has arms!" and I like it because the teapot stands out so well compared to the things around it. I loved this picture immediately after I took it.

I added this picture not because it is compositionally strong, but because it is just really cute.

Tea Party?

This photo is one of my personal favorites from my out of context pictures. I tried to use components of reflection and shape for this. Mr. Moore always says that instruments are some of the most beautiful things to photograph, and I completely agree. The violin adds a sense of elegance to the photo and the teapot makes you think, "why is that there?" Altogether its a very good photo.

You've Got Mail

This picture is one of Mr. Moores favorites from my mini-assignments this year. It has so much fine detail and contrast. I also used the rule of thirds in this to draw most attention to the mailbox in the foreground. The telephone pole is also in a very good spot because it draws even more attention to the right hand ride of the photo.

Work or Play?

I took this picture in my yard next to my shed. The bike was my grandmothers, and she left it at our house, so it looks older than the other bikes we have at our house. I also think the yard tools add a component of line and shape to the pictrue along with the boards of the shed. The bike also casts a shadow to show more line.

Church Tower

This picture was also taken in Newburyport. I always love walking by churches because when you're close and you look up, the tip of the church always looks so high and mighty. This picture has very contrasting details in the church's structure. The black just brings out the details more powerfully.

Dump Truck

This photo was taken in my back yard while my dad was doing yardwork. He was raking and mowing the lawn, and filling the truck with all the compostable materials and dumping them near where the woods was. I love this picture because it is so detailed and contrasted.

Clocktower

This picture was really hard to line up exactly right. I was eating lunch in the top floor in Fanueil Hall in Quincy Market and I looked out one of the windows and saw the beautifully structured clock tower. I tried as best I could to apply the rule of thirds in the composition but it was difficult aligning the foreground and background to with the angles to match up.

Cigar Shop

I absolutely loooooove this picture. It looks almost 50's because of the old style of the stores along the brick siddewalk. The lamp post is also a good structure in the foreground and it draws attention to the cigar sign, which I think looks pretty awesome. This picture is also very contrasted and the black and whites are very prominent.

Boardwalk

This photo was taken in Newburyport at the very end of the boardwalk next to the old Maritime store. It is very compositionally strong because it contains elements of reflection, line, and still life. It is also very peaceful looking and has a lot of contrast.
